Truth or Dare Questions for Couples

These 60 truth or dare questions for couples include 30 truths and 30 dares, divided into sweet and flirty lists. Choose a list together and take turns. You do not need to finish every question in one evening.
This is a suggested at-home game for adult partners who both want to play. Physical contact, personal disclosures and another round are always optional. Pass on any prompt without a penalty.
How to play truth or dare as a couple
Choose sweet or flirty prompts together, or agree to play truths only. One turn each makes a round. Try three rounds, then decide whether to continue. This is a suggested starting structure, not a target you must finish.
On your turn, choose truth or dare and let your partner read a prompt. Answer, accept, change it or pass. Ask before any physical contact; either person can stop an activity after it has begun.
Passing has no penalty and needs no explanation. A silly alternative can be offered if the player wants one, but it is never the price of refusing. Do not record or share answers without permission.

A sample round you can start with
Player one chooses a sweet truth: ‘What song reminds you of me?’ After the answer, their partner might ask, ‘Where do you remember hearing it?’ That follow-up is optional. Player two then chooses a dare: ‘Tell your partner three things you find charming about them.’ With one turn each, the round is complete.
If a player passes on a kissing prompt, respond with ‘Of course, let’s change it.’ They might prefer describing an adventure they would like to share. If an answer becomes an interesting conversation, pause the game instead of rushing to the next prompt.
How to adapt dares without physical contact
Replace a massage with describing an ideal relaxing evening. Replace a kiss with delivering a compliment as a movie line. Replace an eye-contact challenge with inventing an exaggerated advertisement for a household object. Offer the alternative and let the other person decide; adapting a dare does not remove the option to pass.

Use questions as openings, not relationship scores
In Build Love Maps, Zach Brittle at The Gottman Institute recommends learning about a partner through questions and stories. This is attributed professional guidance, not a trial showing that these 60 prompts improve relationships.
This list is an editorial collection of game suggestions. Matching answers is not a victory, and struggling to answer is not evidence that someone cares less. Choose prompts for what you both want tonight, rather than using the game to assess your relationship.
Turn these into a board game
Our free couples board game includes its own truth and dare decks. You can also add your favorites from this guide to a custom deck. Roll the dice, move around the board, and do whatever the square you land on says. Two people, one phone, no signup.

Start with three turns each, then decide whether to continue. Conversations vary in length; there is no need to rush through all 60 prompts.

Pass or change the prompt without a penalty or explanation. A funny alternative is optional, not a cost imposed for refusing.
Does truth or dare work for a new relationship?
If both people want to try it, start with preferences or places you would like to visit. Skip personal questions, or switch to a fictional storytelling game if that feels easier.
